How does Arabic letter frequency analysis work?
The analyzer reads Unicode code points and keeps characters classified as letters in the Arabic script. It ignores spaces, punctuation, numbers, emoji, and combining vowel marks.
Each accepted letter adds one to its written-form total. Percentages divide that total by all counted Arabic letters. Ranks follow the selected sort mode.
Why does sample size matter?
A very short word can make one letter appear dominant. A longer sample usually produces a more stable description of that specific text. It still does not represent all Arabic.
Genre, writer, time period, spelling style, subject, and vocalization can affect distribution. Compare samples only when their source and preparation rules are compatible.
How does normalization change frequency?
The optional mode groups selected variants before counting. It maps common Alif forms to bare Alif, Alif maqsura to Ya, and standalone or seated Hamza forms to Hamza.
This can answer a useful grouping question, but it changes the evidence. The page labels the active mode. Exported results also record whether grouping was enabled.
What methodology does the Arabic frequency counter use?
Original mode counts Arabic-script letters exactly as stored. Diacritics do not enter the denominator. Tatweel is excluded because Unicode does not classify it as a letter.
Normalized mode applies a short visible map: أ, إ, آ, and ٱ become ا. The form ى becomes ي. The forms ؤ and ئ become ء.

The tool does not perform root extraction, morphological analysis, or spelling correction. It does not merge Ta marbuta with Ha. Every grouping decision is limited to the stated map.
How are Arabic percentages rounded?
The table shows percentages to two decimal places, while the chart uses one decimal place. Calculations use the unrounded share before display.
Rows may total 99.99 or 100.01 because each value is rounded separately. Counts remain exact, and CSV exports provide four decimal places for closer comparison.
What does a detailed Arabic letter frequency example show?
Consider باب. It contains three Arabic letters. Ba occurs twice, and Alif occurs once.
Ba represents 66.7 percent of counted letters. Alif represents 33.3 percent. Both original and grouped modes return the same result because no mapped variant appears.

Additional verified Arabic frequency examples
أا produces two separate rows in original mode. Grouped mode places both under bare Alif with a count of two.
يى produces separate Ya and Alif maqsura rows originally. Grouped mode reports Ya twice.
بَب counts two Ba letters. Fatha is excluded from both the letter total and percentage denominator.
How should you interpret Arabic letter frequency results?
Count is the number of accepted occurrences. Percentage is the letter’s share of all accepted Arabic letters. Rank reflects the selected sort, not linguistic importance.
Use the chart to spot strong differences, then confirm exact values in the table. A high frequency can be normal for the topic or sample. It is not an error score.
How should two Arabic samples be compared?
Use the same analysis mode, text preparation, and inclusion rules. Record sample sizes. Avoid strong conclusions when one sample is much shorter than the other.
For research, preserve source citations and an unchanged text copy. Exported counts support reproducibility, but they do not replace a documented corpus method.

Treating one passage as the Arabic language
The percentages describe only the entered sample. Universal claims require a representative, documented corpus.
Comparing different normalization rules
Grouped and original counts answer different questions. Use one declared mode across every comparison.
Including diacritics as base letters
Vowel marks are combining marks, not Arabic base letters. This tool excludes them from the denominator.
Reading rank as importance
A high rank means frequent in the sample. It does not prove that a letter is more meaningful.
Ignoring OCR and encoding problems
Presentation forms, hidden controls, and OCR errors can distort a frequency table. Inspect questionable source text first.
What limits and corpus caveats affect Arabic letter frequency?
The browser’s Unicode support controls script classification. Legacy presentation forms and unusual text may need normalization or manual review before comparison.
The tool counts code points, not contextual glyph shapes. It does not detect roots, lemmas, phonemes, or dialect. It cannot judge whether the sample is representative.
