How does Arabic word frequency counting work?
The counter finds continuous groups of Unicode letters or numbers. Spaces, line breaks, and most punctuation create boundaries. An apostrophe or Tatweel can remain inside a group.
Single-word mode counts each accepted token. Two-word mode joins neighboring accepted tokens in reading order. Percentages use the number of units left after active filters.
How are Arabic diacritics grouped?
When grouping is off, vocalized and unvocalized spellings remain separate. When grouping is on, recognized Arabic combining marks are removed from the comparison key.
The displayed row shows the first encountered form for readability. The exported mode states that grouping was active. Base letters are not normalized.
How does stop-word filtering work?
The optional filter removes words from a small visible list of common Arabic function words. It runs after optional diacritic grouping and before phrase creation.
No stop-word list suits every genre, dialect, or research question. Keep the filter off when every written word matters. Record the list when results support published work.
What methodology does Arabic word frequency use?
The same Unicode-aware token rule controls totals and frequency rows. Latin words and number groups can remain in mixed text, but the page’s purpose is Arabic analysis.
Text is compared without Latin letter case. Arabic letters otherwise remain exactly as entered unless diacritic grouping is selected. The counter does not reduce words to roots or lemmas.

Two-word phrases can cross sentence boundaries after punctuation removal if the words remain adjacent in the token stream. Treat these as mechanical bigrams, not proven linguistic phrases.

Consider العلم نور والعلم مفيد. Exact single-word mode finds four unique forms across five total words.
العلم occurs twice and represents 40 percent. Each other word occurs once and represents 20 percent.
